Charlie Gould is a self-taught artist from New Hampshire, living and working in Massachusetts. While working for the government, Charlie searched for greater meaning in life by teaching himself how to draw and paint. Four years later, he spends all his time bringing color to moments in the life, death, and rebirth of postindustrial America. Charlie’s best pieces glow with his childlike awe for machines, factories, cities, and the land, but hint wryly towards their consequences, like destruction, pollution, and abandonment. He builds frames for his works out of found elements, including balusters, doorframes, and construction scraps. Charlie lives in Mass with his fiancée, Bex, and their little black cat.
