Adam Gurvitch is a self-taught artist. His process involves careful observation and intuitive handling of materials to express relationships with the natural world. Adam films while snorkeling and hiking, drawing inspiration for painting, sculpting, and printmaking. He favors direct, immediate ways of improvising by hand, allowing chance to shape imagery.

In 2015, a brain injury abruptly ended Adam’s career leading health, immigration, and civil rights campaigns. Since then, he has been awarded artist residencies at China International Printmaking Base in Guanlan, Shenzhen, University of Hawaii - Manoa, Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design - Jerusalem, Coroora Institute - Queensland, Australia, Double Dog Dare Studio - Kauai, Hawaii, and Donkey Mill Art Center - Holualoa, Hawaii.
